(IV) Wire Feed Speed or Amount of Deposition

Relatively speaking, the smaller diameter of the contact tip has the shorter service life. In the same situation of the 300A electric current, 1.2 and 1.6 wire unit time filling (melting) volume is basically same. But the length of 1.2 wire is two times the length of 1.6. It means the wear rate of 1.2 contact tip is almost two times than that of 1.6 contact tip at the same time. Supposing the contact tips of 1.6 and 1.2 are worn 0.2mm, this 0.2mm is 12.5% of the length of the 1.6 contact tip and it is 16.7% of the length of the 1.2 contact tip. So the welding wire of 1.2 has a large beating range.

Improvement Measures:

1. Purchase chrome zirconium copper contact tip, big brand products with guaranteed machining accuracy.

2. Straightening of welding wire

3. Contact tips must be tightened with pliers. Only with hand twist may lead to arc instability and consume more contact tips.

4. Make sure the clean gun workstation is normal and be careful of splashed silicone oil.

5. Generally use a smaller voltage to select approximate formula 14+0.04* current. The higher the voltage, the greater the loss.

6. Clean the wire pipe regularly.

7. The quality of the wire is also a decisive factor.

8. Keep the workpiece clean and less oil.
